Salon Hair Products
By Gary Ng
Salon can become quite tempting for salon customers. Once a professional or a stylist has used a certain type of hair mousse or gloss, for example, and the results have impressed the customer, he or she will surely want to get that specific product even if it is a little expensive. Though individuals can opt for buying these products from stores, they will most likely prefer to buy them from salons where they also receive advice as to what to use and how to apply. This is one of the advantages that salon present compared to those found in retail stores. One benefit of salon is that you learn about their properties by experiencing what they have to offer to your hair and to your looks. And you learn a lot of information and get explanations and clarifications in case you need them directly from somebody who can indeed give you advice. Moreover, this is done in such a way that it does not take you extra time, because most probably professionals working in salons talk to their clients about salon while they are styling hair. And instructions can sometimes be a little confusing as to how to use these products; but witnessing the application process can mean a lot more than learning by simply reading instructions. You will clarify all the gaps and understand how proper hair care works. Salon can come in a pretty wide range and may be intended for helping clients or consumers whose hair has been dyed, permed or straightened based on chemical substances. In this case, the stylist might recommend products meant to strengthen the hair, nourish and hydrate it at the same time. They could also recommend salon

Fall 2010 makeup trend: minimalism
<img alt="Glee-3.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/Glee-3.jpg" width="400" height="600" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px;" /><div><div style="text-align: left;">Over the past few weeks, we've been seeing simple, minimalist faces popping up all over fall/winter runways. Nude lips and light metallic eyes have been one of the biggest foreseen trends for fall 2010. Echoing the fashions of the coming season, a clean and effortless face is a refreshing change to the dark lip and eye shades we are used to seeing when the weather cools off, and the sweaters and scarves come out.&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Our favorite starlet look emulating simple, natural makeup is Dianna Agron (Quinn Fabray on Glee) at the Glee Season 2 premier earlier this week. Her simple, wavy pulled back hair, paired with her tone down makeup color palette really accentuated her natural beauty, which is what this no-frills trend is all about.&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div> <div><img alt="Glee 1.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/Glee%201.jpg" width="550" height="407" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px;" /></div><div><img alt="Glee 2.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/Glee%202.jpg" width="550" height="400" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px;" /></div><div><div style="text-align: left; ">Echoing Dianna's glowing fresh face were Glee Season 2 co-stars Naya Rivera, Jenna Ushkowitz, Heather Morris and&nbsp;Charice Pempengco. Best in beauty at the 2010 Emmy Awards
It's Friday and we STILL aren't over the gorgeous looks from Sunday's Emmys!<br /><br />Here are a few looks that we can't get out of our heads:<br /><br /><img alt="Keri Russell_hair.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/Keri%20Russell_hair.jpg" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0pt auto 20px;" height="425" width="325" />Keri Russel kept it flirty with icy lavender eyeshadow, rosy cheeks, and pinkish nude lips...complemented by her wavy side updo. Perfect for the warm weather on Emmy day...or a summer date night!<br /><br /><img alt="SofiaVergara_325.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/SofiaVergara_325.jpg" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0pt auto 20px;" height="425" width="325" />Sofia Vergera, who is always sultry, did not disappoint with cascading waves, smoky eyes, and shades of peach to make her tan pop. Muy Caliente!<br /><br /><img alt="LeaMichele-325.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/LeaMichele-325.jpg" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0pt auto 20px;" height="425" width="325" />Lea Michele intensified her 70's inspired flowing hair by adding winged liner and nude lips reminiscent of the time period, proving you can look natural and glam at the same time. (Is it just us or does she remind you of Jen Garner here?)<br /><br /><img alt="ClaireDanes_325.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/ClaireDanes_325.jpg" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0pt auto 20px;" height="425" width="325" />Claire Danes made her blue eyes pop by rimming them with plum shadow and adding lots of lash. Rosy shades on cheeks and lips complimented her blonde hair and tawny skin.<br /><br /> <div><img alt="janjones.bmp" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/janjones.bmp" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0pt auto 20px;" height="457" width="321" /></div><div>January Jones kept her face fresh with just a hint of icy white on the eyes to make them pop, but added extensions to the front of her hair for a beachy, a-line bob.<br /></div><div><br /></div> <p><a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/vNTULQgmhQhuNjTz2UPXHz1Mcjw/0/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/vNTULQgmhQhuNjTz2UPXHz1Mcjw/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a><br/> <a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/vNTULQgmhQhuNjTz2UPXHz1Mcjw/1/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/vNTULQgmhQhuNjTz2UPXHz1Mcjw/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a></p><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/BeautybakeryByStylebakerycom/~4/HJwbNzB6m34" height="1" width="1"/>
Celeb makeup trend: pretty in purple
<img alt="purple-haze-celeb.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/purple-haze-celeb.jpg" width="550" height="400" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px;" /><div><div style="text-align: left;">If there is an eyeshadow shade that is universally pretty on every skin tone and with every hair color, it's purple. Any variety of it - lavender, plum, violet - is the perfect accent for a feminine dress or night look. Pop stars Demi Lovato and Katy Perry are just a small sampling of the starlets that rock purple hues. Whether you are barely daring enough to supplement a shadow for your eyeliner, or bold enough to don a full lid, you really can't go wrong with this violet pigment. Check out some of our favorites below.</div><div><br /></div><div><img alt="purple-haze-2.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/purple-haze-2.jpg" width="550" height="400" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px;" /></div><div><br /></div><div>The <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=K0Po8GYMDXA&amp;offerid=32532.1203157&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0">Eurydice duo eyeshadow palette from NARS</a> is by far one of our favorite purple shadows. It has just the right amount of intensity, and goes on very evenly. It's also great when used wet as a liner, and seems more resistant to caking than lower-end shadows. $32, <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=K0Po8GYMDXA&amp;offerid=32532.1203157&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0">Sephora.com</a></div></div><div><br /></div><div>We loved the versatility of the&nbsp;<a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=K0Po8GYMDXA&amp;offerid=32532.1192566&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0">Kat Von D True Romance eye palette</a>, especially the range of plum to almost lavender hues that makes for the perfect purple smokey eye. But it's also good for everyday use with the earthy, neutral colors like the brown and gold. $24, <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=K0Po8GYMDXA&amp;offerid=32532.1192566&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0">Sephora.com</a></div><div><br /></div><div>If there is an eyeshadow that has the perfect amount of shimmer, iridescence and pigment, its <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=K0Po8GYMDXA&amp;offerid=32532.1223270&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0">Dior's 5-colour in Extase Pinks</a>. With a range in color that can take any chic lady from day to night, the shadows are velvety soft. Though it's definitely on the pricier side, it lasts and lasts...and lasts (we've had a Dior palette for over 5 years now and it's still going strong.) $58, <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=K0Po8GYMDXA&amp;offerid=32532.1223270&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0">Sephora.com</a></div><div><br /></div><div>Since Illamasqua's release stateside a little over a year ago, we've been a smidge obsessed with their pure pigments and wide range of intense colors. Origins GinZing Refreshing eye cream
<img alt="GinZing.EyeCream.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/GinZing.EyeCream.jpg" width="300" height="452" class="mt-image-left" style="float: left; margin: 0 20px 20px 0;" />Let's face it: the recommended eight hours of sleep we should all get every night is sometimes hard to come by. This lack of Zzzzs usually shows up all over our faces, particularly in puffy eyes with dark circles.&nbsp;<div><br /></div><div>That's where Origins steps in to provide relief with it's <a href="http://bit.ly/9Xe6XK">GinZing Refreshing eye cream</a>.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Claims</b>: "GinZing? Refreshing eye</div><div>cream brightens and de-puffs with nature's clinically-proven morning-rescue eye cream that instantly reduces dark circles.&nbsp;Like a shot of espresso for tired eyes, this power-packed eye cream delivers both an instant&nbsp;impact and sustained benefits over time. <a href="http://bit.ly/9Xe6XK">GinZing? Refreshing eye cream</a> is formulated with</div><div>a cool, crème texture that invigorates and hydrates the eye area, helping unsightly bags and&nbsp;under-eye puffiness virtually disappear. Vibrancy is restored, leaving the delicate eye-area&nbsp;appear rested, even-toned and revitalized."</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Our take</b>: We loved the smooth, fast-absorbing texture of this <a href="http://bit.ly/9Xe6XK">eye cream</a>. It didn't sting or burn in the least (which is hard to find in an eye cream), and didn't leave any hint of greasy residue, making it great to wear under makeup. The skin around our eyes felt a light tingly sensation - the result of the caffeine - that helped a little with de-puffing (though we didn't see a significant difference). Also, we didn't notice much lightening of our dark circles, and resorted to our usual concealer.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Bottom line</b>: We loved how smooth and tingly this product made our eyes feel, but didn't experience a major visible difference in our eye puffiness or dark circles. Although it did brighten up our eye temporarily, perhaps more longterm use would produce better results.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>$29.50, <a href="http://bit.ly/9Xe6XK">Origins.com</a></div> <p><a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/dUTNtI2Assq8qW0Tv5oJUX8dPzY/0/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/dUTNtI2Assq8qW0Tv5oJUX8dPzY/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a><br/> <a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/dUTNtI2Assq8qW0Tv5oJUX8dPzY/1/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/dUTNtI2Assq8qW0Tv5oJUX8dPzY/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a></p><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/BeautybakeryByStylebakerycom/~4/jhvHm8-N5O0" height="1" width="1"/>
Get the look: Lea Michele and January Jones' Emmy glam
<img alt="leamichele.bmp" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/leamichele.bmp" class="mt-image-left" style="float: left; margin: 0pt 20px 20px 0pt;" height="461" width="321" /><b>HOW TO GET LEA MICHELE'S LOOK:</b><br /><br />Celebrity editorial stylist Mark Townsend created a modern and fresh hair look for Lea Michele. "Lea wanted her hair to look touchable and super modern, and full hair with lots of volume and a bit of roughness was perfect against her flawless gown," said Townsend.<br /><br />· Start with clean hair.&nbsp; Michele used <a href="http://bit.ly/aIh43Y">Dove Daily Treatment Conditioner</a> to give softness and smoothness in the time it takes to use a conditioner.<br /><br />· "The end-of-Summer timing of the Emmys is a perfect opportunity to play with color. Lea is still shooting episodes of <i>Glee</i> and we couldn't do anything permanent, so I added in a few custom pieces of hair to add dimension and giver her removable highlights for the evening." The result was a golden/coppery effect throughout the ends of Michele's hair.<br /><br />· Use <a href="http://bit.ly/aIh43Y">Dove Body &amp; Lift Volumizing Mousse</a> throughout damp hair and blow dry with a round brush to add lift.<br /><br />·Spray 3 inch sections of hair with <a href="http://bit.ly/aIh43Y">Dove Heat Defense Therapy Mist</a> to protect hair against heat styling damage before using an iron.<br /><br />· Next, use a 2 inch curling iron to give a subtle bend or 'S' curl, rather than a perfect curl. Curl from the ends all the way up, and set each section with a barrel clip for 5 to 7 minutes or until cool.<br /><br />·&nbsp; Scrunch hair with <a href="http://bit.ly/aIh43Y">Dove Daily Moisture Therapy Replenishing Mist</a> to add moisture, and blow dry briefly without a diffuser to look a bit undone.<br /><br />· Warm a pea-sized amount of <a href="http://bit.ly/aIh43Y">Dove Frizz Control Therapy Taming Cream</a> between the palms of hands. Rake fingers through hair to distribute product evenly for shiny, modern texture.<br /><br />· Tease hair at the crown for extra volume and lift.<br /><br />·&nbsp; To finish, spray <a href="http://bit.ly/aIh43Y">Dove Unscented Extra Hold Hairspray with Natural Movement </a>liberally on a small, natural bristle eyebrow brush and run through bangs to hold a middle part. The parted bangs gave a modern update to the 60's vibe of Michelle's hair.<br /><br />&nbsp;<br /><br /><img alt="janjones.bmp" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/janjones.bmp" class="mt-image-right" style="float: right; margin: 0pt 0pt 20px 20px;" height="457" width="321" /><b>HOW TO GET JANUARY JONES'S LOOK</b>:<br /><br />For <i>Mad Men</i>'s January Jones, Townsend created an edgy, fashion-forward look. "A textured, asymmetrical bob was the perfect way to incorporate January's love of editorial fashion and runway style into a feminine, yet tough look," said Townsend.<br /><br />· The night before, use <a href="http://bit.ly/aIh43Y">Dove Intensive Repair Damage Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner</a> to strengthen hair and prevent damage.<br /><br />· "Second day texture was key to achieve this runway-meets-Hollywood look, so I pre-styled her hair the night before." Distribute <a href="http://bit.ly/aIh43Y">Dove Curl &amp; Sculpt Defining Mousse</a> throughout and blow dry hair with round brush to add lift<br /><br />· Set top sections of hair with large, 3 inch Velcro rollers for 15-20 minutes. Yes To Carrots Shampoo and Conditioner
<img alt="Yes-to-Carrots.jpg" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/Yes-to-Carrots.jpg" width="550" height="468" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0 auto 20px;" /><div><div style="text-align: left;">What do you get when you blend dead sea minerals with organic fruits and vegetables (like carrots) and leave out the parabens? Well, shampoo and conditioner, of course. Per usual, we were first drawn to this duo for its fresh orange color (and label.) Reading a book by its cover? You betcha. When we untwisted the top of <a href="http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2460079">Yes To Carrots Shampoo</a> and <a href="http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2460077">Conditioner</a>, we were pleasantly surprised by the fruity scent (it's carrot shampoo after all). Though the ingredient list reads more like the recipe for a fall harvest soup than haircare - organic carrots, sweet potato, pumpkin - we gave it a try. &nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">The directions mention to leave the shampoo on for two minutes (which was a little odd, but we followed instructions) before rinsing, and the same for the conditioner. We squeezed the traditional amount of product into our hands before lathering up, and found we needed some more <a href="http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2460079">shampoo</a> to get a rich froth. The <a href="http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2460077">conditioner</a> was ultra thick and rich, but appeared to absorb into our hair pretty quickly.&nbsp;Assuming it was a result of the unconventional formula, we left the shower with squeaky clean strands that smelled marvelous. Though our hair was soft when dried, it didn't feel quite as hydrated or glossy as we are used to.&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Overall, we were pleased with the smell, lack of harmful chemicals and the presence of natural ingredients, but we felt this duo was a little drying for our normal/dry hair, and might be a better match for oily tresses.&nbsp;</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div>$8.99 each, <a href="http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2460079">Ulta.com</a></div></div> <p><a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/MWVvS6dOjg8Pdguyxy5hwI0BY5U/0/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/MWVvS6dOjg8Pdguyxy5hwI0BY5U/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a><br/> <a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/MWVvS6dOjg8Pdguyxy5hwI0BY5U/1/da"><img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/MWVvS6dOjg8Pdguyxy5hwI0BY5U/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a></p><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/BeautybakeryByStylebakerycom/~4/CBz7vHJftl4" height="1" width="1"/>

Celeb secrets for treating summer breakouts
Yes, even celebs get breakouts, but you don't always need a star salary to get rid of them. Some of our favorite star beauties forego expensive spas and treatments in favor of at-home treatments in order to keep&nbsp; their skin red carpet ready.<br /><br /><img alt="celebacne.JPG" src="http://www.stylebakerybeauty.com/images/celebacne.JPG" class="mt-image-center" style="text-align: center; display: block; margin: 0pt auto 20px;" height="446" width="469" /><b>Megan Fox</b> swears by <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=K0Po8GYMDXA&amp;offerid=32532.1250620&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0">Bliss 'Pore'-fector Gadget Kit </a>($185), an innovative complexion-improving set featuring a high-tech, dual-action skincare tool and advanced pore-clearing formulas. The tool generates sonic vibrations, which work with Bliss Daily Detoxifying Facial Toner to create micro-jets (fine, steady streams of moisture) that extract impurities and deeply clean clogged skin. The sonic waves help to loosen up debris, creating a cleaner, smoother, more receptive surface, setting the stage for revitalizing antioxidants, hydrators, and the rest of your skincare regime to work effectively. So that's why Megan always looks flawless!<br /><br /><b>Charlize Theron</b> reaches for <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=K0Po8GYMDXA&amp;offerid=32532.1002583&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0">Ole Henriksen Micro/Mini Peel System </a>($95), a three-step kit containing all you need to exfoliate, refine, peel, and renew your skin in minutes. Almond Polish emulates the benefits of a microdermabrasion, refining skin to smooth perfection. next, a Lemon peel emulates the benefits of an acid peel; lactic and glycolic acid combined with orange and lemon extracts plus aspartic acid go to work peeling and renewing skin. Lastly, a chamomile formula comforts skin after the more active treatment steps. Convenient, effective, and luxurious... no wonder Charlize loves it!<br /><br /><b>Miley Cyrus</b> is a fan of <a href="http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=K0Po8GYMDXA&amp;offerid=32532.951954&amp;type=2&amp;subid=0">Kinerase Clear Skin Blemish Dissolver </a>($39). Beauty focus: double duty lip balms and glosses
